Start of Operation of the Environmental Electronic Window

On January 8th, 2025, the “AGREEMENT announcing the Environmental Electronic Window of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and Establishing its Operating Guidelines” (the “Agreement”) was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation. Through this Agreement, it is announced to the public in general that the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (“SEMARNAT”) has implemented the Environmental Electronic Window (“EEW”).

Purpose

The EEW aims to facilitate access to digitized environmental procedures and services through a platform that simplifies administrative processes in the interaction between SEMARNAT and users.

Registration and Requirements

  1. To use the EEW, interested parties, whether individuals or legal entities, must register by providing basic information such as their address, phone number, and email.
  2. Registration can be easily completed using their e.signature, the Unique Population Registry Code (CURP) and a password, or through official identification platforms.

Implications

  1. Procedures carried out through the EWW have the same legal validity as physical documents.
  2. Once a procedure is initiated electronically through the EWW, the entire process, until its final resolution, will be carried out within this platform.
  3. This new system will be available for the users starting January 9th, 2025.
