Jaime is a Partner at Ibarra del Paso Gallego, where he leads the Labor and Employment (L&E) practice of the Firm.

Profile

Jaime has over 15 years of experience handling L&E matters, advising domestic and international companies in topics related to labor laws in Mexico, and litigation matters, both individual and collective.

Jaime works closely with the transactional departments of the Firm in the assessment of labor contingencies and mitigation of related risks in M&A and asset acquisition contexts.

Professional Background

Prior to joining the Firm as a partner, Jaime worked at leading international law firms, including Holland & Knight and Jones Day, where he led their Labor & Employment practices in Mexico.

His practice focuses on strategic labor advisory, including prevention and management of labor contingencies, individual and collective bargaining matters, profit sharing, employer substitution, and workforce transfers in mergers, acquisitions, and spin-offs. He also advises on expatriate hiring, labor inspections, and compliance with Mexican labor regulations.

Additionally, Jaime advises multinational and domestic companies on employment terminations, nondisclosure and non-compete agreements, and the implementation of Human Resources policies, including compliance with NOM-035 and workplace policies on sexual harassment, non-discrimination, and whistleblowing.

Jaime has advised and represented companies across a wide range of significant labor matters and transactions, including the following:

  1. Universal Pictures Mexico, Employment restructuring of the Mexican branch of the international entertainment company in connection with new outsourcing regulations.
  2. Mizuho Bank Mexico, international investment bank with operations in Mexico, on day-to-day labor & employment matters.
  3. Carrier Enterprise Mexico, on the employment restructuring related to compliance with the recently enacted regulations on outsourcing/specialized services.
  4. Lottus Capital Fund subsidiaries in Mexico, in several individual employment litigation procedures in different jurisdictions throughout Mexico.
  5. Alcon Laboratorios, Mexican branch of an international pharmaceutical company, on the employment restructuring related to compliance with the recently enacted regulations on outsourcing/specialized services.

Jaime teaches Procedural Labor Law at Universidad Anáhuac México.

Academic Background
  • 2008, at Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, he obtained his Law Degree (J.D./LL.B. equivalent).
  • 2010, he complemented his experience with a Certification in Human Rights.
  • 2017, at Universidad Panamericana, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Corporate Law (with honors).
  • 2020, at Harvard Law School, he participated in the first edition of the Executive Education “Smart Collaboration” Master Class, taught by Professor Heidi K. Gardner.
